Next Session: Saturday, December 16, 2023 Time: 4PM-5PM Where: Central Neighbourhood House (349 Ontario Street, Toronto) Cost: $5 ($0 for low to no income) TEAO Canada will hold space for participants, led by Nicole Brown Faulknor — as both an embodiment coach and psychotherapist. Nicole will explore somatic practices as well, as a way to support rebuilding a relationship with our bodies through these symptoms and a place to be heard and loved in places of systems and institutions and why your emotional health is our mental health. REST FOR RACIALIZED FOLKSCANDLELIT RESTORATIVE YOGA
When: November 24, 2023 Where: The Branches Yoga (9 Samuel Street, Kitchener) Time: 7:30pm - 9:00pm Cost: $18 (Standard Price) $30 (Supporter Price) $5 (Low Income/ Subsidized Price) Rest for Racialized Folks is an affinity space for those who identify as Black, Indigenous or Racialized to land and restore together. Restorative yoga can help the body, mind, and breath to calm and relax. Co-led by an Indigenous and a Black teacher, this class is an opportunity for slowing down, deep rejuvenation, and self-care. After the teacher’s fee, any additional proceeds from the class will be donated to the Trauma and Embodiment Association of Ontario for their work with racialized communities. |
EMBODIMENT FOR TRAUMA RECOVERYNext Session: November 12 - December 17
When: Sundays from 11:30am - 12:30pm Where: The Branches Yoga (9 Samuel Street, Kitchener) Cost: $145 +HST (Community Supporter Rate) $120 +HST (Standard Rate) $95 +HST (Subsidized rate) This unique class is for anyone who is on a path to recovering from physical or emotional trauma. The class aims to give participants tools to understand how trauma affects the body, to move through embodied trauma (trauma stored in the body) through very gentle movements, simple postures from hatha yoga, and breath awareness. The classes are aimed at building a trauma survivor’s sense of empowerment and cultivating a more positive relationship to one's body. The class focuses on internal sensing and reclaiming choice in your body, and is less about form or technique. Absolutely everything in the class is optional, and the practice is beginner-friendly.
