Recent accreditation through Psychotherapy Matters to conduct psychiatrist referrals in order to reduce long waits for clients, as well as to accompany clients via virtual appointments with the Psychiatrists as part of my services. If you are interested in this service please feel free to contact me to book a consultation. For more info on this service, click here.

If you and your therapist feel that you might benefit from a consultation with a psychiatrist, the Virtual Clinic allows the therapist to work collaboratively with you, your primary care physician, and a psychiatrist. Psychiatrists are medical doctors specializing in mental health issues. As medical doctors, psychiatrists differ from other mental health professionals because they can prescribe medications and assist in making diagnoses.

The clinic is called a "Virtual Clinic" because the psychiatrist will only be present via video conferencing (like Skype, but confidential and secure). With your consent, the psychiatric consultation will occur in your therapist's office, while your therapist is present in the room with you, and with everyone working as a team.

Testimonies

“Back in 2009, when my family and I immigrated to Canada from the refugee camps. We were dealing with a lot of trauma. We did not have the counselling services available to us but now, everything is different. Services like Wounds 2 Wings helped us cope up with such traumatic experiences of being refugees. The services provided by Nicole were heart warming and calming. If you are struggling in any way, don’t feel that you’re in this alone. Wounds 2 Wings can help you overcome the obstacles stopping you from moving forward.”

TCTSY

What is TCTSY?

Trauma Center Trauma Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY) is a trauma informed treatment for complex trauma also referred to as chronic/complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (CPTSD) and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
At the trauma center, we are United against trauma in all its forms; For Humanity in all shades, sizes, beliefs, and gender.

Why is it useful to feel my body?

"If I can't feel my body, how do I know what my needs are, and if I don't know are needs are, how can I take care of myself?"

Traumatic memories are often fragmented and stored in the body as implicit (unconscious) memories - memories that are often unspeakable, painful and distressing to feel in our bodies. In the face of traumatic experiences, not feeling & disconnecting from one's body makes good sense & is a useful adaptive response for survival. However, in the long term not having a body, in the sense of not being able to feel or tolerate feeling one's body significantly effects one's physical, psychological and social well being & limiting quality of life and relationships to one's self and others.

TCTSY is a respectful yoga practice and rests on the principles of invitation, choice, empowerment, as means to support you in your healing process - by creating opportunities to practice noticing sensations in your body-  to practice feeling your body and rebuilding your relationship to your body as safe place to be, perhaps practicing a returning home to your body.
